Ipamorelin is a selective, third-generation growth hormone releasing peptide (GHRP) — a pentapeptide (Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂) that mimics ghrelin's action at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a) in the anterior pituitary. It stimulates GH release with high selectivity: unlike first-generation GHRPs (GHRP-2, GHRP-6), Ipamorelin does not significantly elevate ACTH, cortisol, or prolactin at GH-releasing doses, making it the cleanest GHRP secretagogue studied to date.
